Life Balance Coaching Process
1) Invest in relating to God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, first.
2) Apply what is learned about relating to God to people, second.
3) Help other people learn to relate in the same two-step process. (To God first, to one another second)
We were in our late 20's when my wife and I awoke to consumer debt reality. We stopped charging and made minimum payments for 17 months to get out of debt, never to return again.
On balancing weight, it's never too late
It took me about 40 years to find eating balance! I always thought that since I could eat alot I should eat alot, and since I did eat alot I kept eating alot. Changing my eating patterns meant letting go of my childhood. (AKA growing up.) That was about 10 years and 35 pounds ago.
Scripture consistently and repeatedly tells us that God is in control of time. So, patience is just a three-step paradigm shift away.
1) God knows what He is doing, do I?
2) God knows how it will be done, do !?
3) Well then, relax and seek Him first. Patience and self-control will always follow.
On balancing Biblical grace, extend it
1) Remember, I don't know what I don't know. (Otherwise I would know, which sounds funny but makes sense.)
2) God did know, does know, and will know. And he remains steadfast in his love, anyway.
3) The opposite of Biblical grace ... is justice.
On balancing prayers, be like God
Father, help me to see each person as you see them.
On balancing parenting decisions, simplify
Consider every parenting decision to fall at a point along a line. The line begins at "protection" and ends at "preparation." The more this decision protects my child, the less it prepares my child, and vice versa.
Statement on Life Coaching Industry
The Life Coaching industry is vibrant, viable and valid. But it is also young.
Life Coaching credentialling is not yet federally regulated or standardized. Therefore, I have chosen not to pursue "industry certification", yet.
(It's industry trainers certifying themselves; not my idea of good balance.)
So, you should know that there are other life coaches out there with more "coaching credits."
My body of work is bi-vocational, that's business and ministry. It's people and relationships and teams and hurdles and achievements and value and satisfaction and joy.
So, I have appreciation and passion from a business perspective: leading, working and relating in a framework of financial accountability, returns on investment, and the relationships between costs and values.
And I have appreciation and passion for Christian ministry: leading, working and relating in an environment of pure volunteerism that is completely free and unemcumbered by any relevance to pragmatic financial returns.
The mature wisdom of the serenity prayer is an example of Balancing PIES: It is very important know the difference between the two!
